The Ethiopian Diabetes Association was established on January 23, 1984 G.C (1976E.C) for the purpose of providing a forum to diabetes patients so that they can discuss ways of prevention, the provision of information and treatment for all affected by diabetes. The initiative came from Ethiopian Medical Association, health care professionals and people who live with diabetes at the time. It is the first patient based association in the country.

Metrocare is a 501.c.3 non-profit organization that cares for individuals and families struggling with mental illness, developmental disability, or severe emotional problems in clinics across Dallas, programs in the community, and even in clients' homes. Many people coming to Metrocare are at their lowest point.

ECI supports families to help their children reach their potential through developmental services. Services are provided by a variety of local agencies and organizations across Texas. Dallas County Health and Human Services provides short-term emergency financial assistance to eligible Dallas County residents. DCHHS�?? program functions as a safety net for indigent residents. The county�??s welfare program is temporary and serves to assist residents until they are able to return to work or until they are able to gain assistance from other resources. As part of the services offered through the welfare program, DCHHS assists residents with rent room and board utilities transportation food Eligibility Dallas County residents who receive welfare services are disabled or their primary caretaker is disabled. Call 214-819-1800 to schedule an appointment. Walk-ins are welcome.

Dallas County Health and Human Services aims to increase the efficiency of energy usage in a safe manner for eligible Dallas County residents in low-income households. The program provides relief to low-income residents of Dallas County. As part of CEAP, DCHHS prioritizes households with elderly/disabled residents and households with children that are 5 years of age and younger. Statistics show they are the most vulnerable to the high cost of energy. Utility assistance is also provided to households that do not fit the priority group; however qualifications are based on income. Repairs to home heating and cooling units will also be provided to our priority household groups as listed above during weather related crisis. Dallas County residents who are interested in applying for CEAP should call 214 819-1848 to schedule an appointment.

This organization has programs to serve the poor and most vulnerable throughout North Texas, and resettled refugees fleeing war or persecution in their native countries who now call Dallas their home. Their services provide assistance to families in need throughout the nine counties that make up the Diocese of Dallas, including: Collin, Dallas, Ellis, Fannin, Grayson, Hunt, Kaufman, Navarro, and Rockwall.

In addition to the service to families, NETWORK also strives to educate the local community on issues that affect those in need.
